Tip Tuesday: Clean & Deodorize Your Garbage Disposal in 30 Seconds

This is a common tip, but in case you haven’t heard you can use oranges to get those gross smells out of your garbage disposal.

I seem to do this every few weeks, using either quartered oranges or lemons (whatever I happen to have handy).

Simply put the cut fruit in and run your disposal and tap water for 30 seconds or so. (You may want to cut it into smaller chunks to make sure it won’t clog your disposal.)

If the smells are really bad, before doing this I dump about 1/4 cup baking soda down the drain and then pour in about 2 cups white vinegar. Let that fizz and bubble for about 5 minutes, flush with hot water, then add your citrus. Bye-bye odors!

I’ve also heard that adding just the peels works, too. And I don’t know about you, but we have plenty of Cutie peels leftover in our house!
